Day Eight: Christchurch to Picton

The last few days have been great but the unfortunately both Liz and Louise have been sick for a good portion of the trip.

Sandy and myself have managed to avoid it so far but  they do say that sharing is caring.   The  biggest challenge for Louise is the laryngitis she had today.  And for us it was rather a peaceful day, with some pure entertainment.  Particularly when she had to converse with the lady in the Cafe in Kaikoura, when trying to order an expresso, with milk on the side.  Pretending to milk a cow in cafe is not something you see every day.  It was also Hatterday, so we had already sparked people’s curiosity strolling around.  I was so glad she ordered wine at dinner tonight and not a slippery nipple cocktail.

Left Christchurch after a walk around Cathedral square and along the Avon.

Theme day:  Hat day, fondly known as Hatterday

Breakfast at Cocoa Black cafe in Waikuku,  Delicious.

Quick shop stop in Amberley at ‘Ruby Six’ a lovely little gift shop and then on to Kaikoura.

No whales today, but plenty of seals.

We did attempt to go to a winery but was a little late in the day and most close by 4pm.

After get to our accommodation we talk down to the Oakley for dinner and stroll along the water front.  Lovely day but long.  We have decided that next time we would do 2 overnights in Dunedin and Christchurch.

Funny of today:  Louise took several photos today of the scenery, unfortunately they turned out to be all of her.  She couldn't tell she was taking selfies because of the glare.  Disclaimer:  she is sick.

More photos to come.  Watch this space.
