Day Five: Manapouri

After the previous day we were looking forward to our Doubtful Sound Wilderness trip.

The trip started with a boat trip across lake Manapouri to West Arm where we boarded a bus for an hour journey across to the spectacular Doubtful Sound in Fiordland National Park.  Along the way we learnt about why and how the road was built and also about the region's flora and fauna that surround us.

And then we boarded the boat to adventure into the sounds.  Gosh, what an amazing place. The photos can speak for themselves.

The bottom point of the V in the range below is the road that we came over in the bus.

Had dinner at the Church.  All past sins were forgiven by the local pastor and bar owner.  We had a go on the flying fox in the park opposite the bar around 10pm.   No injuries.  The video can be viewed on request.

Hit the sack around 11.  Off to Dunners in the morning.

Again many thanks to the lovely Rachel and Tim for coming to the rescue with accommodation.
